Goat plague (peste des petits ruminants, PPR)

You may have heard about the outbreak of the notifiable peste des petits ruminants in Greece and Romania, but thankfully you won’t be too familiar with diagnosing the disease itself. Incursion to GB is not expected.

For those, however, wondering whether they would recognise the disease, the FAO 1999 PPR field manual lists the main clinical signs with pictures. Reports from the PPR cases in Greece and Romania describe clinical signs similar to those in the manual, in addition to high mortality figures.
