SRUC

This course aims to equip learners with an understanding of theory and with practical skills related to marketing communications in the context of the rural sector and natural economy. 

 

With a combination of lecture and theory-based practical activities, the course will provide learners with the ability to think critically and strategically about how to communicate persuasive message to diverse consumer groups important to the rural sector and natural economy.

It will also provide learners with the experience of developing and integrated marketing communications plan involving targeted messaging and omni-channel media efforts.

Who the course is for: 
This course is for those working in the communications sector throughout the UK and to those who have a general knowledge on agriculture but would like to combine that knowledge with public communication skills.  The industry needs people in mainstream media who have a knowledge in the agriculture industry and this programme aims to fill that gap.

Learners may be professionals working for a variety of agriculture companies or non-agriculture companies and this programme aims to support those using a wide range of communication tools within their professional settings. 

Entry requirements:
There are no formal entry requirements, but applicants are advised that this course will be delivered at SCQF Level 11, which is equivalent to a postgraduate MSc degree. If you do not have a Bachelors degree or equivalent level qualification, you may find the postgraduate level assessment challenging.

You will require access to a computer or laptop, internet connectivity and a webcam. Access to Adobe Suite and Microsoft Suite is suggested, but not required.

Course dates:
This course is self-paced and will be launched in February 2025. It can be started at any point in the year excepting July and August. It normally takes 12 weeks to complete.

Qualification:
This is a stand-alone micro-credential (accredited short course) at postgraduate level 11. Upon completion of this course, you will gain 20 SCQF credits (equivalent to one-third of a Postgraduate Certificate) and a certificate to prove you have passed the course.
