Overview & what's involved

This course is suitable for users in a range of industries and working environments such as agriculture, forestry, golf courses, leisure complexes, parks and gardens, outdoor shows, and events.

Full description

By the end of the course, you'll be able to:

comply with legal requirements, with an emphasis on safe practice
identify the risks associated with using a sit-astride ATV
select and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
understand the main causes of accidents
identify the controls and components
understand the functions of all the instruments
carry out daily checks as indicated in the manufacturer's operator manual
carry out appropriate pre-start checks
identify and report any faults
carry out an on-site risk assessment and plan the route
identify loading and towing capacities

With the following options to:

operate the ATV safely on a variety of slopes and terrain
carry out a failed hill climb
demonstrate active riding
drive with loads and/or trailed equipment
load and secure vehicles for transport on the road

Cancellations must be made at least 10 working days prior to the course start date otherwise the full course fee is still payable. In the event that SRUC has to cancel a course for any reason your course fees will be refunded in full or your booking transferred to the next available date if this is suitable.

Certification

This course is Lantra certified but please note that from 1 April 2025 Lantra will no longer be producing Physical Certificates and/or Learner Cards. For Courses delivered after this date we are only sending eCertificates. Learners can order physical copies direct via the Lantra Learner Hub if required.
