Promote Your Farm’s Success with Our New HerdPlan Web-App!

Connected

Our innovative HerdPlan web app allows you to stay in touch with your farm team, including your farm staff, vet, nutritionist, and other professional advisors in real time. It gives you control over who has access to your HerdPlan account, allowing you to add or remove team members as needed, ensuring your team member list is always up to date.

Paper-free

You can use HerdPlan to create an online comprehensive and tailored to your farm health plan which is fundamental for both your business and the health and wellbeing of your animals. The online functionality will help your farm team to access the health plan from everywhere at any time ensuring that everyone is informed about the latest farm details, health updates, and production issues leading to a more effective health risk management and collaborative work.

Manage health activities

You can use HerdPlan to manage health activities more effectively. All health plan actions will be saved in one place and added to the HerdPlan calendar. Automated weekly reminders for vaccinations, treatments, and other important actions will ensure that critical tasks are prioritised and completed on time by the farm team.

Fully Compliant

You can use HerdPlan to develop health plans with your vet that comply with farm health assurance requirements, such as Red Tractor and QMS. Store all your herd/flock performance information, protocols for managing and treating diseases, policy documents, biosecurity measures, and team competencies in one place. This will ensure that you remain compliant with the Schemes’ requirements in an easy and quick way.

Proactive

You can use HerdPlan to be proactive through better health risk management. Instead of calling the vet only when there is a major issue with your herd/flock, arrange regular meetings to monitor and review the situation in your farm. Ensure there is a vaccination program to protect your herd/flock from common diseases, strict biosecurity protocols to prevent the introduction and spread of diseases, and diagnostic tests to detect and prevent illness rather than relying on antibiotics. This proactive approach through better risk management will ultimately bring more money to your farm.

Continuous improvement of health and productivity

You can use HerdPlan to continuously improve animal health and productivity by monitoring and reviewing throughout the production cycle. Schedule dates in the HerdPlan diary to meet with your vet 3-4 times a year. These catch-up meetings should be held at key points in the production cycle. These meetings will allow you to review and update performance data, track disease incidents and actions, and promptly address unforeseen issues, such as a broken crush affecting bull fertility exams or extreme weather conditions impacting your calving shed.

The HerdPlan will be available to all UK farmers starting on the 17th October 2024. You can create an account and invite your vet practice to link to it. Once the vet practice accepts your invitation and links to your account, you can begin working proactively to improve profitability and animal health.

There is an annual subscription fee for farmers, set at £99 + VAT, with payments made to the vet practice. The SRUC will not charge you directly, instead, your vet practice will handle the billing.
