Yvonne Cannon

I started my Veterinary Nursing career working within a mixed general practice where I qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 1995. During my 25 years in veterinary practice, I have worked within many disciplines of nursing. My main passion has always been surgical nursing where I spent a number of years working as a senior theatre nurse in a busy referral practice in England specialising in orthopaedics, ophthalmology and cardiology.

I have always enjoyed the practical aspect of training completing my assessor qualifications and becoming a clinical supervisor for student veterinary nurses in practice. I have trained many students within practice over the last 15 years.

I joined SRUC in 2017 as Internal Verifier in Veterinary Nursing where one of my main responsibilities is supporting student vet nurses during their clinical placement year. I will regularly visit students within placement during this time and love being able to hear about and see interesting cases while out and about.

While not working I have two children who like to keep me very busy.
