I am a senior environmental scientist with expertise in soil health, carbon sequestration and sustainable land management practices for greenhouse gas mitigation as well as insect bioconversion of wastes as an alternative protein source.

I studied environmental science as an undergraduate then obtained a PhD from Lancaster University investigating soil carbon dynamics in UK grassland, forest and peatland systems with the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology. I joined SRUC in 2010 as a researcher and lecturer of soil nutrient dynamics, leading and contributing to a range of research projects, MSc educational programmes and supervising PhD studentships.

I joined SAC Consulting in 2022 as a Senior Consultant working on a range of projects covering topics such as evaluating suitable agricultural management practices for improving soil health and resilience to challenging weather events and consumer demands; assessing and reducing agricultural greenhouse gas emissions for scope 3 emission reductions; assessing land capability for agriculture; role of insect protein as a sustainable alternative protein source, particularly for animal feed.
