I am a Veterinary Manager at SRUC Veterinary Services and was formally the Veterinary Centre Manager at the Edinburgh Veterinary Disease Surveillance Centre. My expertise is in the field of veterinary diagnostic investigation of farm animal health problems. This requires skills in veterinary pathology, knowledge of diagnostic testing and test result interpretation and an excellent awareness of UK farming practices involving all sectors.

I have a particular interest in pig health and disease control and have a European specialist qualification in Porcine Health Management. My research interests have been focussed on porcine enteric diseases most notably Brachyspira species infections, improving diagnostic methods and promoting the control and elimination of swine dysentery. Other interests involve national control of serious infectious diseases of pigs, most notably respiratory infections including PRRS virus infection.
