Hi I'm
Izzy Bannister

Expertise:

I am the first year tutor of the HND Rural Animal Health students and have been part of the programme since it started in 2022. I have a wide range of experience in industry, a highlight of which was working at a top national hunt and flat racing stud. Before working at SRUC, I taught at multiple HE institutions in the UK. Within teaching, my main interests are health, breeding and nutrition.
I am currently undertaking a PhD researching the metabolism of copper in large ruminant species, with the aim of producing industry feeding guidance. Previous to this, I completed my masters in equine science with a focus on feeding a total mixed ration to thoroughbred foals and the impact on gut health.
Outside of work, I row competitively and have started Munro bagging with my dog Penny.
