Hi I'm
David Darlington

  • Position: Consultant
  • Location: England and Wales
  • Expertise:
    • Agriculture, Crops and Soils
    • Business Management and Finance
    • Livestock and Fishing

I have over 30 years’ experience in agriculture, 25 of which I spent as a partner within the family business . Due to my health, the herd was sold back in 2022 and the farm is now let out on an FBT and I am now working for SAC as an agricultural consultant.  When I returned home, from Harper Adams Agricultural College with a degree in Agriculture, back in 1996, I managed the dairy/arable business including staff recruitment, reporting to nutritionists, vets, agronomists, and investors.

Having been involved in the dairy / arable industry myself I feel I can relate to the challenges farmers face on a day-to-day basis and try and help them overcome them in a practical and down to earth way.

I am a keen advocate of technology and its ability to improve efficiencies. I specialise in dairy robotics including building design and herd management within the system. I also enjoy business management and planning including drawing up cashflow forecasts and their ongoing analysis.

I would also like to develop my skill in dairy cow rationing to not only provide completely independent advice to farmers but also give a second opinion on a ration they are already feeding, if they are having issues within the herd.

I am also fully competent in all legislation in relation to farming business, including NVZ, Farm Assurance, Cross Compliance, Stewardship schemes, Health and Safety and employment law.

I am based in Cheshire and cover the surrounding area.

In my spare time I enjoy eating out locally as well as following the local football teams. I am also an active member of 3 local discussion groups.
