SRUC

A transformational project to foster innovation in the dairy sector, the Dairy Nexus will boost productivity and work to decarbonise the sector. With funding from the UK and Scottish Governments through the Borderlands Inclusive Growth Deal, the project will involve the development and build of infrastructure at SRUC’s Barony Campus, located in Dumfries & Galloway. The cutting-edge design was produced by Kathleen Hallquist, the award-winning Borders Architect in collaboration with leading London practice, Jestico + Whiles.

The planned infrastructure for the Dairy Nexus will include a Biorefinery Unit to support the innovation and creation of new products from those used and produced in dairy farming and new Digital Twin technology which will measure all aspects of the dairy farming system, including soil health and cow behaviour.

This project is due to start the construction phase in mid-2023 with anticipated completion set for mid-2024.
