A positive result indicates presence of Ovine Herpes Virus 2 and is consistent with MCF where clinical signs are present. A negative result indicates that no OHV-2 nucleic acids were detected in the submitted sample. If MCF is strongly suspected despite a negative PCR result then repeat sampling may be beneficial.
