Interpretation of L. hardjo Bulk Milk Antibody (ELISA)
</= 0.03 - Negative - Naive and /or unvaccinated
>/= 0.04 to </= 0.10 - Low Positive - A few seropositive cows
>0.10 to </= 0.50 - Medium Positive - Mix of infected and susceptible animals
> 0.50 - High Positive - Heavily infected/vaccinated

The test result is presented as an optical density ratio with a classification to aid interpretation. A single sample is a snap shot in time and a series of monthly or 3 monthly samples provides better evidence of the dynamics of the disease in the herd. The status of animals not contributing to the bulk tank milk is not assessed e.g. youngstock, dry cows, sick cows, bulls.
