Interpretation of BHV1 (IBR) Marker Vaccine Serology
Positive: S/N ratio </= 0.60
Inconclusive: S/N ratio >0.60 and </=0.70
Negative: S/N ratio >0.70

This competitive ELISA is used to detect antibody to the gE component of the BHV1 virus. Animals that have been vaccinated with the marker vaccine (gE deleted) and neither naturally exposed to BHV1 nor vaccinated with the conventional BHV1 vaccine will test negative by this test. Animals that have been exposed to BHV1 infection or vaccinated with a conventional BHV1 vaccine will test positive using this ELISA. This is a competitive ELISA and therefore the greater the S/N ratio the less there is of the antibody under test.
Please note that, in contrast to the gB ELISA, the overall sensitivity of this test is 85%; it can take up to 35 days for seroconversion to occur.
