Interpretation of BVD Antigen ELISA Test Results (blood)
Negative: OD < 0.300
Inconclusive: OD =/> 0.300 to </= 1.400 (Status is therefore unknown)
Positive: OD >1.400

Negative Results: There is no evidence of BVD viraemia. This test has been shown to have a sensitivity of almost 100% in calves down to one month of age.
Inconclusive Results: These may represent animals that are transiently viraemic, persistently viraemic or not viraemic. Animals not exhibiting signs of mucosal disease or another terminal illness should be re-sampled 21 days after the tested sample was collected. This test has been shown to have a sensitivity of almost 100% in calves down to one month of age.
Positive Results: Confirmation of persistent viraemia requires a positive virus antigen result on a second blood sample collected 21 days or more after the first. However, where clinical signs of mucosal disease are present this is unlikely to be practicable or necessary to confirm diagnosis. Suspect mucosal disease or other terminally ill cases may be examined post mortem to confirm the diagnosis by other virus detection tests. This test has been shown to have a sensitivity of almost 100% in calves down to one month of age.
